New Zealand’s top-order batsman, Daryl Mitchell, has confirmed his availability for the upcoming Champions Trophy group match against India after missing the victory over Bangladesh due to illness.

Both the Black Caps and India remain unbeaten, securing their semi-final spots ahead of Sunday’s crucial Dubai showdown, which will determine the Group A leader and semi-final matchups.

“Missing the last game due to illness was disappointing,” Mitchell admitted. “But it’s great to be back with the team, out of the hotel, and preparing for the next match. I’m excited to represent my country again.”

Rachin Ravindra, returning from a concussion, replaced Mitchell in the Bangladesh match and delivered a brilliant 112-run innings, helping New Zealand secure their place in the knockouts.

With a strong batting lineup at his disposal, coach Gary Stead faces a selection dilemma, especially as he considers resting players with minor injuries before the semi-finals.

Mitchell emphasized the team’s depth and adaptability: “We take pride in stepping up when needed. I’m sure different players will rise to the occasion in the coming matches to help us win.”
