Former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq is set to take over as the national team’s head coach, sources confirmed on Saturday.
As per reports from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Saqlain has accepted the coaching role after a meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
He is expected to assume responsibilities before Pakistan’s upcoming tour of New Zealand.
Having previously served as head coach, Saqlain was initially approached by the PCB ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 but declined due to concerns regarding all-rounder Shadab Khan.
His return comes at a pivotal time as Pakistan looks for stability ahead of key international tournaments.
