The Railways Multan Division collected over Rs. 20 million in September from passengers traveling without tickets, categorized under fares and fines.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways’ Multan Division announced on Thursday that this crackdown was initiated under the direction of Divisional Superintendent Railways Multan, Yousuf Leghari, and led by Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) Ramla Shahid.
The spokesperson further indicated that a total of Rs. 20 million had been collected from these passengers. In September 2024, inspections resulted in the apprehension of 18,209 ticketless travelers, with the recovered amount being deposited into the railway treasury. The official also noted that passenger complaints were addressed and resolved during these inspections.
DCO Ramla Shahid stated that this is the first time in the history of the Multan Division that such an extensive crackdown on ticketless passengers has been conducted.
