Ginneries record over 4.2 million cotton bales received by October 31

As of October 31, 2024, seed cotton (phutti) equivalent to over 4.2 million bales (4,291,105) has been received by ginning factories across Pakistan, marking a 36.84% decline compared to the same period last year.

The Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) released its fortnightly report on Sunday, indicating that over 3.7 million bales (3,790,139) have completed the ginning process.

In Punjab, cotton arrivals were recorded at 1,842,257 bales, a decrease of 38.53% from the previous year’s 2,996,921 bales. Sindh reported 2,448,848 bales, down by 35.51% compared to last year’s 3,797,085 bales. In Balochistan, seed cotton arrivals reached 131,800 bales.

Exporters and traders purchased 31,000 bales, while the textile sector acquired a total of 3,535,733 bales. The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has yet to begin cotton procurement for the 2024-25 season. Currently, 724,372 unsold bales remain in stock, with 560 ginning factories in operation across the country.
