Beware of Dangerous Tires: Fraudulent Tire-Selling Syndicate Exposed in Pakistan
While car tires may seem standard, negligence and lack of awareness during purchase can result in life-threatening consequences.
Many of the small vehicles we rely on for daily commutes are equipped with faulty tires—essentially ticking time bombs that could burst at any moment, putting countless lives at risk.
The alarming practice of selling refurbished tires has become a serious hazard in Pakistan. The investigative team of Sar-e-Aam recently exposed a network involved in selling old, worn-out tires disguised as brand new. This fraudulent activity has been linked to numerous traffic accidents across the country.
The culprits behind this business are highly skilled, making it nearly impossible for buyers to differentiate between genuine new tires and refurbished ones. Shockingly, they even alter the manufacturing dates on the tires to mislead consumers.
These sellers claim the tires are imported from countries like Japan and the USA, where replacements are made frequently. However, the reality is far more sinister. These tires are smuggled from Afghanistan as scrap and are essentially worthless. Yet, many unsuspecting Pakistanis purchase them due to their low price, unknowingly putting their lives at grave risk.
This widespread malpractice underscores the urgent need for consumer awareness and stricter regulatory enforcement to prevent further loss of lives.
