LAHORE – Following the successful launch of its premium Deepal brand with the S07 SUV and L07 sedan, Master Changan Motors Limited (MCML), a collaboration between the Master Group of Industries and Changan International, has introduced the Changan Lumin. The mass-market electric vehicle (EV) was unveiled on October 25, 2024, at the Pakistan Auto Show 2024 held at the Expo Centre Lahore.
The Lumin is designed as a city-smart hatchback, aimed at making electric mobility both affordable and accessible, targeting the long-neglected A-segment market. Supporting MCML’s mission to lead the EV revolution in Pakistan, the Lumin is built on Changan’s Pure EV platform (EPA0) and features a battery supplied by CATL, the world’s top battery manufacturer, which provides an impressive range of 301 km on a single charge.
The Lumin boasts a unique, stylish, and family-friendly compact design, ideal for navigating urban environments in Pakistan. It comes equipped with a 7-inch digital cluster meter, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and multifunction steering, all contributing to a modern, tech-savvy driving experience. The interior showcases a sporty two-tone design, adding a contemporary flair. Safety features comparable to those found in higher-end vehicles include hill start assist, automatic emergency braking, ABS, and vehicle stability control.
In addition, the Lumin provides Eco and Sports driving modes, enabling drivers to choose between energy-efficient operation and a more spirited driving experience, making it suitable for both city commutes and longer trips.
“Master Changan is excited to launch the Changan Lumin, a stylish smart hatchback EV that we believe will serve as a catalyst for widespread EV adoption in Pakistan,” stated Danial Malik, CEO of Master Changan Motors Limited.
In its broader commitment to promoting mass EV adoption, Master Changan is addressing four key challenges in the Pakistani market: offering competitively priced products, ensuring long battery life, establishing a robust after-sales service network, and expanding the national charging infrastructure. The company has plans to enhance the charging network across 17 cities, demonstrating its dedication to leading Pakistan towards a sustainable, electric-powered future.
