Netflix has raised the prices of its monthly subscriptions, affecting both new and existing members.
The standard plan has increased by £2, now costing £12.99. Other tiers have also seen price hikes, including the ad-supported plan, which has risen by £1 to £5.99, and the premium plan, which now costs £18.99. Additionally, the fee for adding an extra member to an account has gone up by £1, now priced at £4.99.
Netflix stated that the price adjustments will help the company continue investing in content and enhancing user experience. “Occasionally, we ask our members to pay a little more so we can reinvest in improving Netflix,” the company said.
These price hikes follow similar increases in the US, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina. Netflix recently reported record growth, ending 2024 with 300 million subscribers—an increase of 41 million from the previous year.
Following the announcement, many users took to social media to express their dissatisfaction, with some considering canceling their subscriptions. Netflix provides cancellation options through its website, along with a help page guiding users on the process.
