Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, focusing on sectors such as industrialisation, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), clean energy, agriculture, and livelihood initiatives.
This commitment was made during the fifth meeting of the CPEC Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and China’s Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong.
The meeting recognised CPEC’s critical role in enhancing regional connectivity, fostering win-win cooperation, and promoting shared prosperity. Officials also explored expanding partnerships with other nations to further these objectives.
Both sides expressed their determination to strengthen collaboration in areas such as media, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties. They also underlined the need to accelerate the creation of a “China-Pakistan Community of Shared Future in the New Era.”
Foreign Secretary Baloch described CPEC as the “cornerstone of China-Pakistan economic cooperation” and a “shining symbol” of the enduring friendship between the two countries.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong highlighted the interconnected nature of the five corridors under CPEC 2.0—growth, livelihood, innovation, open, and green—which align with Pakistan’s national development priorities, including Exports, E-Pakistan, Energy, Environment, and Equity.
The two sides reiterated their commitment to ensuring the high-quality implementation of CPEC projects, with a focus on long-term economic benefits and regional stability.
