Pakistan Transport Council condemns container confiscations during PTI protests

“Containers loaded with life-saving medicines, vegetables, fruits, and electronic items are being confiscated. Any damage or theft of these goods will be the government’s responsibility,” stated Tanveer Jatt.

He further highlighted that daily losses from seized trucks and containers run into millions, deepening the crisis in the already struggling goods transport sector, which he described as “devastated by poor government policies.”

Jatt called on the Prime Minister to immediately release the confiscated containers, urging compassion for transporters and drivers.

PTI Protest Grounds Islamabad and Rawalpindi

In response to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Islamabad, authorities have sealed all entry and exit points of the twin cities.

PTI, under the leadership of Imran Khan, is set to stage nationwide protests today. Major routes, including the Faizabad Flyover, have been barricaded with containers, while heavy police presence is reported in the area.

Key roads such as Murree Road, Motorway, Rawat, T-Chowk, Taxila, Margalla, and Mandrah remain blocked, along with major highways like the Murree Expressway and Hazara Expressway, cutting off Punjab’s connecting routes.

Over 6,000 police personnel have been deployed across Rawalpindi, with security on high alert. Overnight raids led to the arrest of more than 170 PTI activists, and prisoner transport buses have been stationed to manage detainees.
