LAHORE: The Special Branch of Railways Police Lahore carried out a raid on Jaffer Express (Train 39 Up) on Saturday, recovering a large quantity of non-custom-paid goods from the brake van.
According to a Pakistan Railways police spokesperson, the operation was led by Aamir Fareed, Incharge Special Branch Lahore Division, alongside other officials.
The confiscated items included imported cosmetics, mobile accessories, and 420 bottles of perfumes. Additionally, two dozen bottles of imported shampoo were found in the luggage of a railway employee on duty with the train.
During the raid, authorities also seized a significant quantity of unbooked goods, including nine cartons of chocolates.
The Special Branch further inspected Pakistan Express, where an illegal vendor was arrested, and an FIR was registered at the relevant police station.

All seized non-custom-paid goods have been handed over to customs authorities for further legal action.
In a similar operation in November, Customs officials apprehended a passenger at Lahore airport attempting to smuggle gold and iPhones.
According to reports, a man named Asif Shahzad, arriving from Dubai on private airline PA-417, was caught smuggling over 1.628 kg of gold, six diamond sets, and five iPhones. Officials stated that the suspect had concealed gold within his clothing. A case was registered against him under the Customs Act.
Additionally, in October, Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport witnessed two major operations where customs officials seized high-value mobile phones worth millions from a PIA air hostess and two passengers.
