A sessions court in Lahore denied actor Nazish Jahangir’s request for interim bail on Friday after she failed to appear in court despite several attempts to contact her.
The petition followed an FIR filed against her co-star Aswad Haroon, who accused Jahangir of not returning her car and Rs 2.5 million she borrowed for a project. The FIR included Section 410 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which addresses cheating and dishonesty.
Haroon alleged that Jahangir invited him to a farmhouse but was absent when he arrived, instead sending a man who threatened him if he attempted to contact her again.
In response, Jahangir filed a petition seeking pre-arrest bail, claiming the FIR was lodged with “malafide intention and for ulterior motives to humiliate and harass the petitioner.” The petition stated that her arrest would lead to humiliation.
However, her request was dismissed due to “non-prosecution.” The court order noted, “Despite repeated calls at different intervals, [no one] has appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioner.”
