Businessman Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, has issued a strong statement urging media outlets to stop associating his wife with the ongoing investigations into his alleged involvement in the production and distribution of pornographic content.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at multiple locations, including Kundra’s residence and office, as part of a money laundering probe. These raids, which took place across Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh, were related to the case, and reports indicate that Kundra was questioned during the operations.
In response to media reports connecting Shilpa Shetty to the investigation, Kundra issued a public statement, saying, “While the media seems to love sensationalism, let’s set the record straight: I am fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation that has been underway for the last four years.” He further emphasized, “No amount of drama will distort the truth. Justice will prevail.”
He added, “It’s unacceptable to repeatedly drag my wife’s name into unrelated matters. Please respect the boundaries!”
Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer, Prashant Patil, also dismissed media reports linking Shetty to the case. “There are false and misleading claims about my client, Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra, being raided by the Enforcement Directorate. These reports are not true,” he stated. He clarified that the investigation concerns only Raj Kundra, who is fully cooperating with authorities. The lawyer also urged the media to avoid using Shilpa’s name, images, or videos in relation to the case and warned against irresponsible journalism.
This investigation adds to Kundra’s legal troubles, including a cryptocurrency-related money laundering case earlier this year, in which Shilpa was briefly involved. However, both received relief from the high court. Details of the current probe remain undisclosed, with the ED yet to comment on the findings from the recent raids. Kundra has pledged to cooperate fully with the investigation and remains confident in his eventual exoneration.
The incident has sparked a broader conversation about media ethics, with critics highlighting the personal toll of linking family members to legal cases without evidence.
