Fatima Sana Shaikh discusses who earns more: Male or female actors?

Fatima Sana Shaikh, who is set to star alongside R Madhavan in Aap Jaisa Koi, recently shared insights about her upcoming film Metro In Dino and her admiration for director Anurag Basu. She also addressed the film industry’s preference for male actors.

Expressing her admiration for R Madhavan, Fatima revealed, “I’ve had a huge crush on him for years. I told him how much I love and respect him for his craft, and he’s always been incredibly respectful towards me.” She also described Madhavan as a tech enthusiast, calling him a “nerd” who gets as excited about new gadgets as a child.

Fatima has also completed filming Metro In Dino, marking her second collaboration with Anurag Basu after Ludo. “I’ve told Anurag Basu that no matter what film he makes, I’d love to be a part of it, even in the smallest role. Now, I’ve even started persuading him to cast me,” she joked.

While Metro In Dino has faced delays, Fatima defended the decision, stating, “I’d rather have Dada (Anurag Basu) take his time to make a great film than rush into something incomplete. With an ensemble cast, scheduling can be tricky, and finding the right dates takes time.”

Speaking about the industry’s tendency to repeat male actors more frequently, she acknowledged, “Male actors generate more revenue. If Shah Rukh Khan is paid more, it’s because he brings in the audience. Filmmakers consider the business side too. There are still very few bankable female stars like Kangana Ranaut, Alia Bhatt, and Deepika Padukone. If we bring in the numbers, we’ll be cast more frequently too.”
