Gilgit-Baltistan Introduces Entry Fee for Tourist Vehicles and Motorcycles

The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government has implemented entry fees for vehicles and motorcycles visiting the region to regulate tourism and support sustainable development.

As per a recent notification, tourist vehicles will be charged Rs. 2,000, while motorcycles will pay Rs. 500 upon entry. This initiative aims to manage the growing influx of visitors to GB, renowned for its stunning landscapes and high-altitude attractions.

The collected fees will be utilized to maintain infrastructure, manage waste, and preserve the region’s natural beauty. With rising tourism placing pressure on GB’s roads and facilities, these measures are essential for their upkeep.

Additionally, the government has updated permit charges for mountaineering and trekking, ensuring the region benefits from increased interest in its peaks and trails. While these changes may raise travel expenses, they underscore GB’s commitment to sustainable tourism and responsible resource management.
