In a recent interview with a digital magazine, Hareem Farooq opened up about her role as Masooma in Bismil, revealing that she only realized how relatable her character was after the show aired.
“I was surprised to learn that it’s a story that resonates with many households,” she shared. “So many people within my own circle confided in me, saying that as children, wives, or even husbands, they’ve experienced similar situations.”
Farooq pointed out that while infidelity is unfortunately common, it’s not an unavoidable outcome. “Yes, men are allowed to marry four times, but cheating doesn’t have to be part of that. It could be handled in a civil way with consent, as infidelity brings a lot of tragedy, especially for children,” she explained.
Reflecting on the widespread impact of the show, Farooq said, “I realized later how relatable the character is. I now know so many women who have gone through similar situations, and so many families that have been torn apart, yet they continue to cope and move forward.”
She also mentioned how some girls, driven by their dreams and desire for wealth, end up taking shortcuts. “There are so many young women who want to succeed, but unfortunately, they sometimes choose these paths,” she concluded.
