Despite the persistent rumors of a rivalry between them, Madhuri Dixit recently spoke out, revealing that she had a great deal of respect for the late Sridevi, who achieved success in multiple languages through her hard work and dedication.
“We both had a lot of respect and admiration for each other. I respected her as an actor because she worked in so many different languages and found success everywhere, which was truly remarkable. She was also very kind to me,” said Madhuri, who is currently promoting Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
While the two stars were expected to share screen space in the highly anticipated film Zameen, directed by Ramesh Sippy, the project never came to fruition. However, they did appear together in the 2000 film Pukar, which starred Madhuri alongside Anil Kapoor and was co-produced by Boney Kapoor and Sridevi.
Reflecting on their time on the set of Pukar, Madhuri shared, “We didn’t really get a chance to talk much. I was focused on acting, while she was more involved in the production side. We didn’t connect much during filming, and soon after, I moved to the U.S. after marrying Dr. Shriram Nene.”
Sridevi tragically passed away in February 2018 due to an accidental drowning in a bathtub in the UAE.
