Mission Impossible 8: Tom Cruise’s epic continues to see its budget rise, now exceeding $350 million.

Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible 8 is making headlines, particularly due to its soaring budget, which has now surpassed $300 million. Christopher McQuarrie is set to direct this final installment of the franchise. For more details, scroll down.

The action spy series, originating from the 1966 TV show created by Bruce Geller, debuted its first film in 1996, catapulting Tom Cruise into action stardom and making him a global icon. This franchise remains one of Cruise’s most successful ventures, with total worldwide earnings around $4.09 billion. However, the most recent film, MI 7, released in 2023, underperformed at the box office, overshadowed by blockbuster films like Barbie and Oppenheimer. It did, however, become the first in the series to receive Academy Award nominations for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount is contemplating labeling Mission: Impossible 8 as the ‘final’ entry in this multi-billion-dollar franchise, given the high stakes associated with its hefty budget. The report also indicates that Cruise is hesitant to part ways with his character, Ethan Hunt. Initial reports suggested that the budget had already crossed the $300 million threshold.

Trending news includes that James Earl Jones was reportedly paid only $7,500 for the original Star Wars trilogy, and prior to his Hollywood fame, Matthew McConaughey’s first job involved hunting armadillos at a Texas country club.

Recent updates from THR now estimate Mission Impossible 8’s budget is edging toward $400 million, largely due to production delays stemming from the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Furthermore, MI 7 concluded on a cliffhanger, diverging from the standalone nature of previous films that allowed viewers to watch them independently.

Paramount Pictures has removed “Part One” from the title of Mission Impossible 7, and the new title for the upcoming film will be unveiled alongside its trailer, set to drop on November 11. Mission Impossible 8 is slated for theatrical release in 2025.
