Momina Mustehsan recently stepped in to support her friend and fellow singer Aima Baig amid criticism sparked by Sara Raza Khan, which has stirred quite a debate. During a recent appearance on Zabardast with Wasi Shah, Khan openly voiced her views on the lack of genuine vocal talent in the industry. She admitted that she has advised some artists, whom she feels lack singing skills, to consider different career paths. Khan specifically remarked, “If we take away the option of autotune, then Aima Baig is not a singer,” a statement that has sparked considerable discussion among fans and the music community. She went on to mention that, if she were a filmmaker, she might consider casting Mehwish Hayat in an item song but wouldn’t ask her to sing.
Mustehsan took to Instagram in defense of Baig, sharing a supportive message that read, “Aima sings very well, and so does Sara. Neither of them need autotune.” Her post not only backed Baig but subtly emphasized the value of mutual respect and support among artists.
Meanwhile, Baig has often expressed her close friendship with Mustehsan, revealing that Mustehsan is her “only real friend” in the music industry. Earlier this month, she dedicated a heartfelt Instagram post to Mustehsan, saying, “This post is for – probably my only REAL friend in my field of work. I’m posting us because I miss her a lot.” Mustehsan responded warmly, calling Baig her “chota bhai (younger brother),” underscoring their strong bond in a highly competitive field.
This show of support from Mustehsan comes as Baig continues to recover from a health scare that sent her to the hospital in August. Exhausted, sleep-deprived, and dehydrated from her demanding schedule, Baig took to social media to urge fans to prioritize their well-being. She reflected on how her intense work pace had led to neglecting her health, resulting in high blood pressure. From her hospital bed, Baig shared, “We all are human at the end of the day – not robots. We all must take care of ourselves.”
She added that her body “hasn’t felt this energized or nourished in a very long time.” Concluding her health update, Baig thanked everyone who sent her well-wishes, saying, “I’ve learned my lesson – work hard but remember, health comes first, always.”
