Music Updates: Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, and More

Charli XCX is set to receive Variety’s Hitmaker of the Year award during the publication’s eighth annual Hitmakers celebration on Dec. 7. “We’ve been following Charli XCX since her debut album, True Romance, in 2013 and have supported her every step of the way. It’s exciting to see the world finally recognize her pop music innovations, which have reached new heights with BRAT,” said Jem Aswad, Variety’s executive music editor.

Meanwhile, fans of Sabrina Carpenter are buzzing over a recent TikTok posted by LISA, speculating about a potential collaboration between the two. In the video, LISA sings the words “So kiss me” from Sixpence None the Richer’s hit “Kiss Me,” and although there’s no direct mention of Sabrina, fans feel the video aligns with her “girly” aesthetic. One fan even commented, “LISA X SABRINA CARPENTER?” Fingers crossed!

Additionally, songwriter Julia Michaels’ music catalog has been acquired by Jonas Group Publishing in their biggest catalog purchase to date. The collection includes hits by Selena Gomez, Maren Morris, and Dua Lipa, including the RIAA triple Platinum song “Lose You to Love Me.”
