In a recent appearance on a private TV show, actress Nimra Khan shared her personal experiences with trolls, divorce, and recovering from an accident.
She spoke about the false personas people project on social media, despite dealing with their own struggles.
“Tell me, don’t you all have your own battles? Everyone is fighting something. Would you want to open social media at midnight and see everyone’s hardships? People prefer to see positive content to escape their own problems. I feel society doesn’t offer us acceptance. If you post something positive, you get good feedback. But if you share your pain, you’re met with judgment,” said Nimra Khan.
The actress revealed the deep emotional toll social media trolling has had on her life, admitting that it has affected her significantly.
“During this period, I realized that other people’s opinions are not my reality. That’s why I don’t even read the comments. I know the reasons behind what I wear and how I feel, but people don’t. They comment in a second. People think we aren’t impacted, but it affects us deeply. Sometimes, it keeps me up at night,” she confessed.
Nimra Khan also highlighted the importance of personal safety for everyone in the country, urging a change in societal attitudes.
“I want to tell people on social media, ‘Stop focusing on me, focus on the crime.’ Every girl has the right to walk freely, just like men do. Why should we leave the country to feel safe? We should have that security here, within our own borders,” she emphasized.
