Saima Qureshi, a well-known Pakistani television actress, has been a part of the drama industry for several years. She is recognized for portraying negative and supporting roles in various dramas. Saima is also the cousin of acclaimed actor Faysal Quraishi. Some of her notable dramas include Ishq Beparwah, Ant Ul Hayat, Nehar, Nikah, Juda Huwe Kuch Is Tarha, Amanat, Wafa Kar Chalay, Shahnaz, Bandhay Ek Dour Se, Nand, and many more. She is currently receiving praise for her performance in Green Entertainment’s Duniyapur.
Recently, Saima Qureshi sparked controversy with her remarks about women’s earnings and the significance of second marriages in Islamic society.
Addressing the criticism, she stated, “I recently gave an interview that went viral. Many people have raised concerns over my statements, but they have only watched a short teaser of the show. I urge them to watch the full interview. I mentioned that women’s earnings do not always bring happiness and prosperity, which is a reality. This does not mean I am discouraging women from working, but it is something I have personally experienced. Despite earning well, I constantly worry about savings, expenses, and budgeting.”
She further elaborated, “I acknowledge that many women face financial difficulties, and it is good that they work. Women should be independent, but financial independence alone does not guarantee a fulfilling life. Islam designates men as providers and protectors. You cited Hazrat Khadija as a successful businesswoman, and I completely agree. However, my point was never to discourage women from working. Interestingly, people accept Hazrat Khadija as a businesswoman but hesitate to discuss the idea of women marrying at an older age. I am not advocating for men in happy marriages to pursue a second marriage.”
