Seunghan, a member of the K-pop boy band RIIZE, has officially left the group just two days after his planned return to group activities was announced. On October 13, 2024, Wizard Production, the SM Entertainment subsidiary managing RIIZE, confirmed this news in a statement. The decision follows significant public backlash against Seunghan’s intended return in November. He has opted to leave for the well-being of the remaining members and the fans.
The statement, issued by General Directors Kim Hyung Gook and Lee Sang Min, included an apology to RIIZE’s fanbase, BRIIZE, for the confusion and distress caused by their initial announcement regarding Seunghan’s return on October 11. They explained that the decision to reintegrate him was made after thoughtful consideration of his reflections on past mistakes. However, the negative fan reactions prompted the company to reevaluate the situation, ultimately honoring Seunghan’s desire to exit.
The production team expressed their gratitude to the six remaining members of RIIZE, recognizing the challenges they have faced. They also committed to being more mindful of the group and its fans moving forward. RIIZE will continue as a six-member group, with assurances of support for Seunghan’s future endeavors.
