Pakistani cinema has reached a significant global milestone with Babli/Babar, the latest film by actor and producer Sonya Hussyn, being officially selected for the Cannes World Film Festival. Directed by Kamran Faiq and written by Qurbe Abbas, the film’s inclusion highlights the growing international recognition of Pakistani storytelling.
Produced by Rimshah Amjad and Abdullah Kamran, the film stars emerging talent such as Hasnan Rana, Tanveer Syed, Zeeshan Haider, Fahad Hashmi, Usman Chaudhry, Razia Malik, and Imtisal Hussain. Hussyn, making her debut as a producer, shared the exciting news on Instagram.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to share that my first film as a producer has been officially selected for the prestigious Cannes World Film Festival!” she wrote. “Out of thousands of global submissions, our project from Pakistan has made it to the finals. This is a proud moment for our team and a major step forward for storytelling from our region.”
