Onijah Andrew Robinson, a 33-year-old American woman, has captured widespread attention in Pakistan after arriving in Karachi in October 2024 to meet her 18-year-old online lover, Nidal Ahmed Memon. The story took a dramatic twist when it was revealed that Robinson had been using a filter to portray herself as a white blonde woman during their online interactions. Despite this deception, the couple reportedly engaged in an online Nikah (Islamic marriage ceremony).
Upon her arrival, Robinson faced rejection from Memon’s mother, who disapproved of the relationship, partly due to Robinson’s age and the fact that she had misrepresented herself to her son. Nonetheless, Memon appeared to be willing to proceed with the relationship, possibly motivated by the chance to obtain a U.S. green card. However, his mother fled with him, leaving Robinson stranded.
Refusing to give up, Robinson set up camp outside Memon’s apartment complex, attracting media attention and the curiosity of local residents. Her dramatic outbursts and demands for money quickly made her a viral sensation on social media, where Pakistanis shared memes and videos, both amused and perplexed by the unfolding events.
Local humanitarian Mr. Chippa attempted to assist Robinson, but she rejected his offers. Her eccentric behavior, including a bizarre McDonald’s order and a failed attempt to enter a psychiatric facility, further fueled the spectacle.
