Veteran actor and comedian Abid Kashmiri passed away in Lahore on Friday at the age of 74.
The news was confirmed by Radio Pakistan, while Geo News reported that his family disclosed he had been battling serious kidney issues and breathing difficulties for some time.
Kashmiri had been residing and working abroad but continued his professional commitments during his recent visit to Pakistan, working until his health deteriorated.
He leaves behind two sons and two daughters.
Born on May 4, 1950, in Lahore, Kashmiri had a prolific career, starring in numerous TV dramas, stage performances, and films. He gained popularity for his natural comic timing and was honored with the Nigar Award for Best Comedy Actor in 1988 for his role in the film Bazar-e-Husn. His other notable works include Lohari Gate, Suraj Ke Sath Sath, Samundar, Apnay Log, and Teesra Kinara.
Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider Khan expressed his deep sorrow and condolences over the actor’s passing.
