DRAP issues recall for a batch of THIS medicine.

ISLAMABAD: The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has suspended the use of Mirzpan Suspension and banned its supply and sale.

According to reports, DRAP issued a product recall alert after counterfeit antibiotics were discovered in Balochistan. The drug testing lab in Quetta confirmed that batch 007 of Mirzpan Suspension was counterfeit.

As a result, DRAP has prohibited the use and distribution of the 100 mg packs, stating that the sample failed to meet quality standards, and the presence of Cefixime salt could not be verified.

The 100 mg pack contained fabricated details, while the 5 ml pack falsely listed Miraaz Pharma, Kasur, as the manufacturer, along with a fake registration number.

DRAP warned that counterfeit antibiotics could pose serious health risks. Authorities have been directed to seize the fake Mirzpan Suspension batch from the market.

Additionally, provincial drug control authorities have been instructed to enhance market surveillance, while the Balochistan government has been urged to trace the suppliers of counterfeit drugs.

Distributors have been advised to inspect their stock and report any counterfeit batches to DRAP, while doctors and patients are warned against using the fake suspension.
