ISLAMABAD: In a nationwide crackdown, Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), in collaboration with other security agencies, has confiscated over 1,062.894 metric tons of narcotics since September 2023.
According to official data, law enforcement agencies have arrested 2,350 drug peddlers and smugglers during this period. The operation is part of the government’s ongoing initiative to combat the illegal drug trade and strive for a drug-free Pakistan.
In the past week alone, authorities seized over 326 kilograms of narcotics and detained 12 drug peddlers. Major recoveries were reported from provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, and Sindh.
“The government’s anti-narcotics campaign remains active, with security forces and law enforcement agencies working diligently to dismantle drug trafficking networks across the country,” an official statement said.

Earlier, Customs authorities thwarted a drug smuggling attempt through the International Mail Office (IMO) at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.
Based on credible intelligence, a Customs team led by Collector Adeem Khan, along with ADC Muhammad Faysal Khan and AC Sharjeel Abbas Wasan, intercepted a suspicious EMS parcel labeled “Fresh Galangal (Thai Ginger)” from Bangkok, Thailand.
Upon examination and lab testing, the parcel was found to contain 500 grams of marijuana (cannabis), valued at approximately Rs 2.25 million. The parcel was addressed to Muhammad Usama Mahmood, a resident of Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi.
