SARAI ALAMGIR: In a tragic incident, a patient died in an ambulance after being denied entry at the Jhelum Bridge, ARY News reports.
The patient was being rushed to the DHQ Hospital in Jhelum for emergency care. According to footage circulating online, the ambulance was stopped at the Jhelum Bridge, and despite repeated attempts, authorities refused to allow it to pass.
Eventually, the patient’s family had to carry the body on foot after the ambulance was repeatedly denied entry.
This incident occurred amid ongoing road closures across the Lahore-Islamabad GT Road ahead of a planned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Islamabad on November 24. The GT Road has been completely blocked in both directions from Muridke to Jhelum, and containers have been placed at key points, including the Chenab River Bridge in Gujrat.
PTI founder Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated, has called for nationwide protests on November 24. In anticipation of these protests, the Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province from November 23 to November 25.
The authorities have also blocked roads leading to Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with “no entry” signs and containers installed at key points. Hostels, guest houses, and hotels have been vacated, and 33 points leading to the twin cities have been sealed off.
