The Punjab Health Department conducted widespread raids in Lahore, Multan, and Dera Ghazi Khan, uncovering a large network involved in the sale of counterfeit medicines.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir revealed that the raids exposed fake anesthesia injections, counterfeit cough syrups, and fraudulent skin infection creams.
In Lahore’s Gulberg area, authorities found a facility producing fake anesthesia injections, while in Multan, they seized hundreds of bottles of counterfeit cough syrup. A large shipment of fake skin creams was also recovered. Several pharmacies in Lahore and Dera Ghazi Khan were shut down, and FIRs were filed against those involved.
The perpetrators admitted to using social media platforms, including WhatsApp groups, to distribute these counterfeit products.
The Health Department also confirmed that inspections of licensed pharmaceutical companies are underway, with notices issued for substandard manufacturing practices.
