Rawalpindi records 117 new dengue cases in the past 24 hours.

RAWALPINDI: Dengue cases continue to surge in Rawalpindi, with the city reporting 117 cases in the last 24 hours, according to ARY News.

The health department’s data indicates that 241 dengue patients are currently hospitalized, while the virus has claimed 16 lives this year. The total number of cases reported in Rawalpindi this year has now reached 5,279.

On November 4, 104 additional dengue cases were identified, with Potohar Town cited as the center of the outbreak.

Last month, the Deputy Commissioner declared a district-wide dengue emergency, noting that a more severe strain of the virus is circulating. The season’s confirmed dengue cases stand at 5,279, with 16 fatalities.

Meanwhile, the National Institute of Health (NIH) released a nationwide dengue report covering data from January 1 to October 26. According to the report, Pakistan has recorded a total of 15,997 dengue cases and 10 fatalities so far.

The highest case numbers were reported in Balochistan, with 6,831 cases but no deaths. Punjab reported 4,390 cases with eight deaths, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 1,853 cases with two fatalities. Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan have yet to submit their dengue data to the federal government.
