ISLAMABAD: Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir has refuted claims of receiving a letter from imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, stating, “I have not received any letter from anyone.”
During an informal discussion with journalists, General Munir clarified that if he ever received such a letter, he would forward it to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
“If any letter is received, it will be sent to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif,” he stated.
The army chief also expressed optimism about Pakistan’s future, emphasizing that the country is progressing and will continue to do so.
This statement follows PTI’s claims of sending multiple letters to General Munir, which were denied by security sources.
Imran Khan had earlier announced his intention to send a third letter to the army chief. His sister, Aleema Khanum, stated on Wednesday that the purpose of these letters was to urge the establishment and the Chief Justice to stand with the people.
She added that the letters were public and meant to be read by everyone, emphasizing the need for unity between the army and the nation against terrorism.
