Clinic of Arif Alvi reopens in Karachi

KARACHI: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has de-sealed the dental clinic owned by former President Arif Alvi in Karachi, following directives from the Sindh High Court (SHC), ARY News reported.

The clinic, located in the upscale Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society (SMCHS), was unsealed after Dr. Alvi’s son, Awaab Alvi, filed a petition in the SHC. The petitioners argued that the clinic was sealed as an act of political retaliation.

Barrister Ali Tahir, representing the petitioners, stated that the move to seal the clinic was an instance of harassment against the former Pakistan president and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader.

The petition further noted that the dental clinic had been operating for many years and was closed without prior notice, making the action unlawful.

The SBCA had sealed the clinic on October 3, 2024, citing violations of building regulations, as the clinic was functioning in a residential bungalow.

In related developments, Arif Alvi secured protective bail from the SHC earlier today in three cases filed against him in Mianwali, Taxila, and Rawalpindi under terrorism and other charges. The court granted him bail against a surety bond of Rs. 50,000.
