Educational Institutions in Islamabad, Rawalpindi to Remain Closed Tomorrow Due to PTI Protest

ISLAMABAD: All educational institutions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will remain closed tomorrow (Monday) due to planned protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), district administrations announced on Sunday.

The decision was outlined in a notification issued by the capital administration, citing the prevailing situation. The directive applies to all educational institutions in the federal capital.

PTI plans to hold a “do-or-die” protest at D-Chowk against the “illegal” detention of party founder Imran Khan, other leaders and workers, the “stolen mandate” in the February 8 general elections, and the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has instructed authorities to prevent demonstrations in violation of the newly enacted peaceful assembly law.

The protest coincides with the Belarusian president’s official visit from November 25 to 27, further intensifying government concerns over law and order.

Internet services in Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, and other cities have faced disruptions. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed, “Mobile services are operational, but internet access has been suspended.”

Security measures include deploying hundreds of police, Rangers, and Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel, sealing Islamabad’s entry and exit points, and enforcing Section 144.

Additionally, the Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province for three days, from November 23 to November 25, with over 10,700 police personnel on standby.

PTI has led several marches to Islamabad in recent months, often resulting in clashes between party workers and law enforcement agencies.
