Ex-COAS Bajwa dismisses Bushra’s claims against Saudi Arabia as ‘baseless, irresponsible’

Former army chief General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday dismissed allegations made by Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, against Saudi Arabia, calling them “irresponsible and baseless.”

Speaking to Geo News, Gen (retd) Bajwa emphasized the importance of safeguarding national interests and avoiding unfounded accusations for political gain.

The remarks came after Bushra Bibi, in a rare video message, alleged that Saudi Arabia played a role in ousting her husband’s government. She claimed that during a visit to Madina, where Imran Khan went barefoot, Saudi officials allegedly pressured the then-army chief to act against Khan, labeling him a “Jewish agent” and initiating a smear campaign.

The allegations sparked strong backlash from government officials, who criticized them as harmful to Pakistan-Saudi relations.

In response, Gen (retd) Bajwa refuted the claims, affirming Saudi Arabia’s longstanding support for Pakistan, including during the PTI government. He described the kingdom as a “friend and benefactor” and reiterated that Bushra Bibi’s assertions were “entirely baseless.”
