The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Sunday arrested four suspects, including a former Punjab police officer, for their alleged involvement in human smuggling and fraud.
The arrests were made during an operation by the FIA’s anti-human trafficking cell in Jalalpur Jattan, where Hassan Butt, an ex-Punjab police officer, was taken into custody.
According to an FIA spokesperson, Butt was involved in facilitating the illegal transportation of individuals to Turkiye and Europe.
The operation also led to the arrest of another suspect, Madah, accused of charging Rs3 million to unlawfully send a citizen to Malaysia.
In a separate raid, the FIA apprehended two suspects, Sikandar and Mahboob, who had impersonated representatives of a Saudi company to defraud people. They allegedly swindled Rs66 million from victims under the guise of providing company visas.
