Form 47 government struggling to manage the country’s affairs: Shibli

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Shibli Faraz, on Friday expressed serious concerns about the growing lawlessness in the country, stating that the current government, which came to power through indirect means, is struggling to govern effectively.

“The rule of law has been replaced with chaos, and those who work for the betterment of the country are being made examples of,” he said during a press conference, joined by PTI leaders Rauf Hassan and Abu Zar Salman Niazi.

Faraz criticized Bilawal Bhutto, stating, “Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave this nation political awareness and the 1973 Constitution. Yet, today his grandson is tearing that same constitution apart with his actions.”

Highlighting the achievements of PTI’s founder, Faraz emphasized his contributions to Pakistan, including strengthening its defense, gaining global respect, winning the 1992 World Cup, and founding Al-Qadir University. “Look at how the man who achieved all this is being mistreated today,” he remarked.

He condemned the government for its treatment of the PTI leader, describing how he is being held in a death cell, facing severe restrictions on visitors, and denied contact with his own children. “Despite advocating for the rule of law, PTI’s founder is facing persecution,” Faraz added.

He also criticized the government’s disregard for court rulings, pointing out that “Judicial decisions are being ignored, and the state is failing in its duty to protect the life and dignity of citizens. Even during wars, certain laws protect the vulnerable, but here, people’s rights are being trampled upon.”

Defending Bushra Bibi, Faraz dismissed the charges against the PTI leader’s wife as baseless, calling her a non-political figure unfairly targeted by the government. “This government cannot defeat PTI politically, so they are resorting to other means to suppress us,” he stated.

Faraz stressed the importance of the public’s mandate, explaining that real change can only happen when the people’s voice is recognized. “The people, who are the biggest stakeholders in this country, gave their mandate to PTI in the elections, yet this government relies on reserved seats to remain in power,” he said.

In conclusion, he described the government as a group of opportunists propped up by external forces, walking on “crutches,” which is why they are failing to govern. “Every legal boundary is being violated.”

Regarding PTI’s future plans, Faraz confirmed the party’s intent to continue peaceful rallies, noting that they have already requested permission from the High Court. “We have always held peaceful rallies, and we will continue doing so in Lahore and other cities,” he affirmed.
