Four more bunkers demolished in Kurram as part of the peace agreement.

Authorities in Kurram district have demolished four additional bunkers as part of ongoing efforts to enforce a local peace agreement, while rival factions are set to hold a second round of negotiations in Peshawar today, Express News reports.

District officials confirmed that the bunker removal is progressing as planned, with the latest demolitions carried out in Balish Khel and Anarkali using explosives.

So far, a total of 26 bunkers have been dismantled, with operations continuing. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to implementing the Kohat peace accord, which aims to restore stability in the region. Security measures, including escorted convoys, are also being introduced to ensure public safety.

Meanwhile, sources revealed that following a key meeting in Islamabad, rival factions will reconvene in Peshawar for further discussions.

The initial talks focused on security concerns and the misuse of social media. The upcoming jirga will delve into detailed peace negotiations and confidence-building measures between the opposing groups.


Police Officer Succumbs to Injuries After Kurram Attack on AC

A police officer, who was injured in an attack targeting the Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Kurram, has succumbed to his injuries, police sources confirmed to Express News.

On January 31, three police officers, including Kurram’s AC, were injured when gunfire targeted a government convoy heading to mediate a ceasefire between two tribes in Upper Kurram.

According to the SHO, while the district administration had successfully brokered a ceasefire, the convoy sent for negotiations came under attack.

Assistant Commissioner Manan, who was leading the delegation, sustained injuries. Police reported that the AC was on his way to Boshhera to maintain peace when gunfire erupted from the direction of Fatah Khel.

Three other officers were also wounded in the attack. The injured AC, Revenue Officer Saeed Manan, was rushed to the operation theatre for treatment.
