QUETTA: Gas supply to Balochistan has been restored following the completion of repairs on a pipeline damaged in a sabotage incident, ARY News reported on Thursday.
The pipeline, located in Akhtarabad Western Bypass, was damaged on Wednesday, leading to a disruption of gas supply to multiple areas.
In a statement, the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) announced the successful repair of the 18-inch diameter pipeline. “The repair work, carried out after the sabotage incident, has been completed,” the statement read.
SSGC further highlighted the efforts of its technical teams, who worked tirelessly in freezing conditions to restore the gas supply three hours ahead of schedule. The affected areas, including Kuchlak, Bostaan, Yaroo, Karbala, Haran Zai, and Pishin in upper Balochistan, as well as parts of Quetta city like Airport Road, Nawa Killi, Jinnah Town, Khanu Zai, A-One City, and Hazaar Ganji, now have gas supply restored.
“The management closely monitored the restoration process and extends its gratitude to customers for their patience while regretting any inconvenience caused,” the SSGC statement added.
In other developments, Pakistan Railways suspended the operations of the Jaffar Express between Quetta and Peshawar on December 25 due to security concerns. However, the Chaman train remains operational as per schedule.
