PANJGUR: Hundreds of landline phones in Balochistan went offline on Wednesday after unidentified miscreants severed the main cable of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL), according to ARY News.
The disruption occurred in the Sordo area of Panjgur, where the severing of the PTCL cable led to a widespread suspension of telephone services across the region.
Reports indicate that hundreds of households and businesses were affected, causing significant inconvenience due to the disruption of the telephone network.
PTCL teams were dispatched to the site and immediately began maintenance work to restore the connections.

Meanwhile, the provincial government has invoked Section 144 in Balochistan to curb highway blockades, following recent protests that obstructed several major roads.
Earlier, gas supply in the region was also restored after sabotage caused damage to a pipeline. The incident occurred at Akhtarabad Western Bypass, disrupting gas supply to multiple areas.
Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) issued a statement saying, “The repair work on the 18-inch diameter gas pipeline, damaged by sabotage at Quetta Bypass, has been successfully completed.”
SSGC commended its technical teams for working tirelessly in harsh weather conditions to complete the repairs three hours ahead of schedule, alleviating the difficulties faced by customers in Quetta and parts of upper Balochistan.
