Senator Faisal Vawda has stated that the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan from prison is highly improbable, deeming it too late for such an outcome.
In an interview with a private TV channel, Vawda shared his hope that legal proceedings against General Faiz Hameed and his associates would not escalate to capital punishment. He revealed that Hameed has already been formally charged and is cooperating by providing crucial evidence and information.
Discussing the assassination attempt on the PTI founder, Vawda emphasized the significance of the case, recalling that Khan had been forewarned about the imminent attack. He added that the investigation would soon expose the beneficiaries of the attack, with evidence sourced from laptops, phones, and Hameed’s facilitators.
Vawda hinted at the involvement of another prominent individual close to the PTI leader in the assassination attempt, stating that their identity would soon be disclosed. He further warned that a separate case, when unveiled, could have grave consequences for Khan, suggesting that political negotiations might be essential to resolving the matter.
He also alleged that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s mandate in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was stolen, a grievance that remains unaddressed.
Regarding former army chief General Qamar Bajwa, Vawda remarked on the complexities of holding him accountable due to his alliances with influential figures. He pointed out that even the Army Chief could face challenges if the Prime Minister and the DG ISI united.
Highlighting General Hameed’s significant role in PTI’s operations, Vawda noted that the PTI founder had extended considerable support to Hameed, including plans for calls on November 24.
