Katcha Dacoits Kill Hostage Over Unpaid Ransom

The Katcha area dacoits have claimed another life, killing a kidnapped victim, Muhammad Shoaib, over the non-payment of ransom, ARY News reported.

According to reports, Shoaib was abducted from Multan some time ago. The kidnappers initially demanded over Rs50 million in ransom, along with luxury items such as expensive mobile phones and watches.

The victim’s family revealed that Shoaib endured repeated torture, with the dacoits sending distressing videos to pressure them into meeting their demands. Despite their efforts, Shoaib was subjected to brutal treatment before being killed.

In a shocking twist, the kidnappers are now demanding an additional Rs5 million for the release of Shoaib’s body.

The family has urged higher authorities to take swift action to recover the body and bring the culprits to justice. They have also called on the government to eliminate such criminal activities in the Katcha region.

Background on Katcha Dacoit Activities

In November 2024, a joint operation by the police and Pakistan Rangers in Garhi Tegho resulted in the death of notorious dacoit Fareed Teghani and the capture of his accomplice, Malan Mazari Teghani.

According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), the dacoit group was responsible for numerous crimes, including murders, kidnappings for ransom, and attacks along the National Highway.

Teghani had reportedly lured victims through honey traps and recorded videos of their captivity to demand ransom via social media.

Authorities have pledged to continue operations until all criminal elements in the Katcha area are eradicated.
