Kurram: Gunfire Targets Convoy Carrying Supplies to Para Chinar and Surrounding Areas
Kurram: Gunfire erupted near Bagan at a convoy transporting supplies to Para Chinar, Bagan, Alizai, Balashkhel, Sada, and other regions of Kurram district, according to ARY News on Thursday.
The Kurram SHO reported that the firing is ongoing, with several vehicles set on fire, and one convoy vehicle damaged in a rocket attack. Law enforcement agencies have been dispatched to the location, as confirmed by the SHO of Para Chinar.
The convoy, consisting of 35 trucks carrying food and essential supplies, was the third such shipment sent to the region today. Local residents, struggling due to shortages of food and other necessities, have called on authorities to ensure the continuation of supply convoys.
Ongoing lawlessness and roadblocks in the area have severely disrupted supplies, leading to critical shortages of food, medicines, and other essential items.
The district administration reported the demolition of bunkers in Balash Khel and Khar Kalay areas of Lower Kurram, with seven bunkers dismantled so far.
In response to the unrest, Section 144 has been enforced in Kurram district for two months, prohibiting the display of arms and the gathering of more than four people.
