Light snowfall and rain commence in Northern Azad Kashmir

The upper regions of Azad Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Leepa, and Karnah, witnessed light snowfall, while the lower areas experienced intermittent rain on Wednesday.

High-altitude areas like Gurez, Arang Kel, Shounter, and Jagran were blanketed in snow, signaling the arrival of winter.

Muzaffarabad city remained cloudy, with light rain expected shortly.

Neighboring mountain peaks, including Makra and Ganja, also recorded light snowfall, intensifying the cold wave in the region.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported that the cold spell persisted across the country. Islamabad’s temperature dropped to 0°C, while Leh recorded -10°C, and Gupis -7°C.

Other notable temperatures included -6°C in Skardu, Astore, Kalam, and Kalat; -5°C in Bagrot and Chitral; and -4°C in Gilgit, Hunza, Dir, Quetta, and Malam Jabba. Drosh and Parachinar recorded -3°C.

In Karachi, the cold wave strengthened, with a temperature of 11°C and a wind chill making it feel like 10°C.

The Meteorological Department predicted a further temperature drop of 2 to 3 degrees in Karachi. Humidity stood at 54%, with light fog reducing visibility to 4 kilometers.

Winds were blowing at 8 knots, and daytime temperatures were expected to range between 22°C and 24°C.

Nationwide, the weather department forecasted a further decline in temperatures in the coming days.
