New school timings announced in Punjab following winter holidays

Schools across Punjab are set to reopen on January 13 after the winter break, with the Department of Special Education announcing new school timings to adjust to the ongoing cold wave.

The department confirmed that special education institutions, which have been closed since December 20, will resume on Monday. The revised hours will be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and Saturday. However, on Fridays, schools will close at 12:00 PM.

To accommodate the chilly weather, the department has also relaxed the uniform policy for students in special education institutions. This flexibility, effective from January 13 to February 15, allows students to wear warmer clothing to cope with the low temperatures.

Additionally, all public and private schools in Punjab will reopen on January 13, as the provincial government has not announced any further extensions to the winter holidays. Classes are set to resume as planned despite the ongoing cold conditions.

Weather Update:

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a cold and dry spell across much of the country, with especially cold conditions in the northern hilly regions. Dense fog is expected in parts of northeast Punjab, while light rain and thunderstorms may affect isolated areas.
