Sarim Case: DNA Test Fails to Match Any of the 25 Suspects

KARACHI – The investigation into the tragic murder of seven-year-old Sarim, whose body was discovered in a water tank 11 days after his disappearance from North Karachi, has hit a dead end as DNA samples from 25 suspects failed to yield a match, ARY News reported.

According to sources, the collected DNA samples did not match any of the suspects, leaving investigators without a major breakthrough. Officials revealed that Sarim’s body was in a state of decomposition, which significantly degraded the DNA evidence, making it difficult to identify the perpetrator.

Last week, police detained four more individuals from the apartment complex linked to the case and collected their DNA samples. With the current setback, investigators are now exploring alternative methods to solve the case.

In a new development, authorities have formed a special team comprising an SSP and four SHOs to assist in the high-profile investigation. This team will work alongside the existing investigators and report directly to the DIG West on a daily basis to ensure close monitoring of progress.

The post-mortem report confirmed that Sarim was kidnapped, tortured, raped, and ultimately strangled to death, with his neck broken and multiple injury marks found on his body. Police officials suspect that he was murdered five days before his body was discovered. However, investigators have found discrepancies between the post-mortem findings and the circumstantial evidence.

Earlier, on February 8, police conducted a raid and detained several individuals, including minors, in connection with the case. Tensions flared between law enforcement and the families of those arrested. Authorities continue to interrogate the suspects to gather further information.
