Arrest warrant issued for Ali Amin Gandapur

ISLAMABAD: A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has issued an arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with a case involving the possession of liquor and illegal arms.

The court directed the SSP Operations to arrest the KP CM due to his repeated absence from hearings.

Previously, the court had presented a questionnaire to Gandapur’s counsel, Zahoor Hassan, regarding the violation of Section 144 and illegal possession of weapons and liquor.

The questionnaire inquired whether Ali Amin Gandapur had attended a gathering on October 30, 2016, despite a Magistrate’s order prohibiting it.

It also asked whether he fled the scene in a black car, which was later seized by the police, and if a bottle of liquor, a bulletproof jacket, and an unlicensed weapon were recovered from the vehicle, as confirmed by a report from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.

Earlier, on December 26, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) declared Ali Amin Gandapur a proclaimed offender for his ongoing absences in a vandalism case.

He had been implicated in the vandalism case at the Hasan Abdal police station. Despite multiple summons, Gandapur continued to skip the hearings, prompting the ATC to issue a public notice declaring him a proclaimed offender.
