During a grand operation against PTI protesters in Islamabad’s Blue Area, the government cracked down on demonstrations, resulting in several containers being set ablaze.
Reports from ARY News suggest that one of the burned containers was used by Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur to reach the protest site. Police confirmed this was the same container used by them during the event.
Protesters reportedly set trees on fire to counteract security forces’ shelling. However, the flames spiraled out of control, eventually consuming the container linked to Bushra Bibi and Gandapur.
Authorities successfully cleared the Blue Area of PTI protesters. Sources revealed that Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur exited the area in the same vehicle. Meanwhile, police stopped a vehicle carrying Gandapur’s security personnel. The Islamabad IG instructed law enforcement to prevent Bushra Bibi from leaving the federal capital.
The operation spanned from Khyber Chowk to Kulsoom Plaza, involving approximately 1,500 personnel from the Punjab Police, Islamabad Police, and Rangers. Over 450 PTI protesters were detained during the crackdown.
Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi empowered police to address the protests, accusing the former first lady of inciting the chaos that led to significant loss of life and property in Islamabad. He stated that “one woman” was behind the turmoil.
