As a special parliamentary committee gathered to select the next Chief Justice under the newly passed constitutional amendments, the absence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was glaring. Despite numerous opportunities to re-engage and fulfill their responsibility of representing the people, PTI continues to cling to an ineffective boycott of government proceedings. The reasoning behind this strategy remains as elusive as predicting the path of a leaf caught in a strong wind—unpredictable, directionless, and erratic.
PTI’s irrational approach to the constitutional amendments has been laid bare. On one hand, they fiercely opposed the process with street protests, defied state authority, and threatened to fuel provincial discord. Yet, when the amendment was finally introduced, PTI quietly stepped back, acknowledging their agreement with its content but refusing to participate in the vote.
