KARACHI: Internal conflicts have resurfaced within the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), as party workers stormed the Bahadurabad headquarters to protest the recent allocation of organizational positions.
The MQM-P central committee had unveiled key decisions regarding the party’s structure, assigning Mustafa Kamal a prominent role across several departments. However, the distribution of posts has ignited controversy, causing divisions among the leadership.
Disgruntled leaders, accompanied by workers, arrived at the Bahadurabad headquarters, resulting in a heated clash with committee members. Slogans were chanted against the MQM leadership, and reports indicate that the confrontation turned physical.
Sources reveal that due to escalating tensions, Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaim Khani have exited the Central Executive Committee’s (CEC) official WhatsApp group and are absent from the central office.
MQM leader Farooq Sattar called on party members and workers to address grievances internally rather than through public disruptions.
In a statement, an MQM spokesperson acknowledged that a small group of workers had gathered at the headquarters and attempted to incite unrest by chanting slogans. The MQM Central Committee has vowed to take strict action against those responsible for the disturbance and has formed a committee to investigate the incident.
Background:
Last year, MQM-P dismissed rumors regarding the removal of Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, labeling them as “baseless and speculative.” Speaking to ARY News, MQM-P Chairman Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui stated that he had been with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif since 8 am on the day in question and that no discussion about the governor’s removal had taken place.
Dr. Siddiqui emphasized that MQM-P is a crucial ally of the government and holds representation in the cabinet, underscoring the party’s significant role in the political landscape.
