Dr. Zakir Naik expresses disappointment with PIA for denying free baggage and instead praises India.

During a public address in Karachi, Dr. Zakir Naik recounted an experience with excess luggage fees while traveling with PIA, highlighting the differences in treatment he receives in India.

He expressed his dissatisfaction after being offered only a 50% discount on 500-600 kg of extra baggage, despite being a state guest, and mentioned that he had been in touch with PIA’s CEO.

“I was coming to Pakistan with 1,000 kg of luggage. I spoke to the PIA CEO, and the station manager assured me he would do anything for me. When I mentioned my extra luggage, he offered a 50% discount. I responded, ‘If I bring four more people, it will be cheaper. I asked him to waive the fees or let it be.'”

Naik explained that he expected his additional luggage to be cleared free of charge, as is customary in India. He expressed disappointment at being offered only a 50% discount, especially given his status as a state guest.

“I rejected the offer. In India, any non-Muslim who sees me usually waives fees. They let me bring 1,000 to 2,000 kg without charge. Here in Pakistan, I am a government guest, and my visa states ‘state guest,’ yet your CEO is offering me only a 50% discount.”

His comments have sparked an online debate, with some defending him and calling for better treatment of state guests, while others criticized his expectations and remarks.

Zakir Naik arrived in Pakistan on September 30 for a month-long lecture tour in major cities like Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore. This visit marks his first trip to the country in 30 years, the last being in 1992.

Originally from India, Naik now resides in Malaysia due to legal issues in India, which has sought his extradition on several charges.
